Seend Primary School has been awarded an £11,000 grant towards the cost of a new path and activity zones around the school.
The Bishops Wordsworth Trust has granted them £11,000 towards the total cost of £19,000 to replace a path that circles the school field.
Headteacher, Jackie Chalk said, “Every winter the existing gravel path deteriorates more and we have really got to a point when for much of the year the path is out of bounds as it is not only dangerous but also results in the children coming in from playtime, caked in mud.”
“The idea is that once the path is finished, the school can make the most of their grounds by building a variety of activities around the field like a small stage, a story chair, a bug hotel etc.
“We are over the moon to have received this grant and are very grateful to the Trust.
“Whilst the bulk of the money has been donated, we still have another £8,000 to find, so if there is anyone out there who might like to donate anything towards this, we would be very grateful. Obviously we will be doing our bit too to reach our goal.”
