Slimming World’s ‘couple of the year’ after losing four stone

SLIMMING World in Melksham has crowned its ‘couple of the year’, who say eating healthier together has helped them lose four stone between them.

Amanda and John Tucker were named the Couple of the Year at a recent meeting.

Carmen Middleditch, who runs the Town Hall Slimming World group, says, “Amanda and John are living proof that slimmers are more successful when they lose weight together and get support and motivation from others along their journey.

“Seeing Amanda and John’s weight come down week after week has been a joy. They’re a real inspiration to the rest of the group, including me. I hope they’ll inspire everyone in Melksham too.”

Amanda, 47, who has lost a stone says, “When we first joined Slimming World we couldn’t believe how much food we could eat and still lose weight. Making small changes to the way we cooked our meals meant we could still enjoy all of our favourite meals like Diet Coke Chicken.

“We enjoy spending time in the kitchen together and love finding new recipes that our two boys can enjoy too – they taste so good and it’s amazing we can eat all the food we do and lose weight. As we’ve lost weight we’ve enjoyed being more active too, which means we do more together like going out on long walks with the children along the canal tow path.”

John, 48, who is almost three stone lighter since joining Slimming World says, “We’re lucky because as well as the support we had from each other, the rest of the group have also been there for us.

“Every week in our group we swap recipes and if we’ve ever struggled there has always been someone ready to suggest a new idea or remind us why we shouldn’t give up. I don’t think we could have achieved all we have without the support of Carmen and the rest of the Town Hall group.”

To find out about losing weight at Slimming World, pop along to the Melksham Town Hall group, which is held every Wednesday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm, or call Carmen on 07828 487569. You can also visit www.slimmingworld.co.uk or see the Slimming World advert on the centre pages.
