National bakery chain Greggs has opened a shop on Melksham High Street.
The cafe and takeaway is at 29-33 Avon Place, next to Iceland, and opened on Friday 7th October. Greggs is one of the biggest food chains in Britain and has over 1,700 stores nationwide – more than McDonald’s.
The company has taken a ten year lease on the Melksham store, which was let by local estate agent Kavanaghs.
Henry King, commercial director at Kavanaghs commented, “The shop is an ideal property for Greggs and is in a perfect location for them. Despite the uncertainty following the Brexit vote, lettings of shop units are still happening, showing a strengthening of the Wiltshire retail market.”
The shop was formerly Quinway beauty salon, and the closest branch of Greggs was in Trowbridge.
