THERE’S so much entertainment at Melksham Assembly Hall with exciting shows and live music coming up in the next few months.

On Friday 26th May, prepare to be entertained, exhilarated and rocked till you drop! The UK’s Premier Queen Tribute Show , Champions of Rock will play absolutely live, in a two-hour spectacle. Book tickets now, £22.50. Show starts at 7.30pm.

Sixties group, The Manfreds bring their Makin’ Tracks Tour 2017 to the Assembly Hall on Thursday 1st June. The group is considered to be one of the finest and most respected bands from that era.

Their numerous hits were R&B-based with an undercurrent of jazz – a very unusual but winning combination of playing style and substance.

As a result, their records have a timeless quality and, some 55 years on, The Manfreds, with original front man, Paul Jones, will be performing many of their hits, including ‘Do Wah Diddy Diddy’, one of the most popular and instantly recognisable songs of the ‘60s, and still the biggest audience pleaser at their concerts, along with a mix of Jazz and Blues covers from their new album ‘Makin’ Tracks’

Paul Jones, with his unique harmonica sound, will be joined by Mike Hugg on keyboards, Tom McGuinness on guitar, Rob Townsend on drums, Marcus Cliffe on bass, and Simon Currie on saxophone/flute. Tickets cost £21, doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

All You Need is The Beatles – Friday 9th June. Acclaimed local tribute band All You Need Is The Beatles celebrate 50 years since the release of The Beatles’ seminal Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band LP with a special celebration concert.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential albums of all time, Sgt. Pepper was released on 1st June 1967 to immediate commercial and critical success, spending 27 weeks at the top of the albums chart in the UK. This fabulous two-hour show also features many of The Beatles’ greatest hits guaranteed to have the audience singing and dancing along from start to finish. Tickets cost £15/ concession £12.50. Show starts at 7.30pm.

Also coming up this year,  Dolly Parton Tribute on 10th June, Brian Poole & The Tremeloes on 22nd June, Tom Stade on 6th October,  Dominic Kirwan in Concert with Lisa Stanley on Friday 20th October, A Night of Dirty Dancing on 26th October, The New Jersey Boys on 3rd November, The Quo Experience on 9th November, Big O and the Travelling Wilbury’s on 10th November, Fast Love – A Tribute to George Michael on 23rd November  and Jethro: The Bull and Bonkers Tour on Thursday 14th December.

If film is more your thing, then the Assembly Hall has two great films coming up next week.

The next cinema screenings are: Fences (12A) on Friday 19th May at 7.30pm and Beauty and the Beast on Saturday 20th May at 10.30am.

Fences (12A): Fences is the story of Troy Maxson, a mid-century Pittsburgh sanitation worker who once dreamed of a baseball career, but was too old when the major leagues began admitting black players. He tries to be a good husband and father, but his lost dream of glory eats at him, and causes him to make a decision that threatens to tear his family apart. Tickets £6.

Beauty and the Beast (PG): Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast (Dan Stevens) in its castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, allowing her to recognize the kind heart and soul of the true prince that hides on the inside. Tickets £4 adults/£3 under 15s.

Tickets are available from the Assembly Hall on 709887, Melksham TIC in Church Street or visit www.melkshamassemblyhall.co.uk
