THE Wiltshire Police Band are on the look out for new members from all local areas to join their band.
John Matthews from the band committee says, “We are a concert band supporting local charities and worthwhile causes by raising money at local events.
“We welcome new members of grade six standard or above, and there is no commitment to join the police force.”
The Wiltshire Police Band (currently under the baton of its deputy musical director, Martin Perry LRAM, ARCM) was formed by a small group of serving police officers in 1984 and have been serving the local community ever since.
The group is made up of civilian members, ex-serving police officers and support staff, who come together through a love of music to raise funds for various local charities and support the Wiltshire Police Force.
The band is a military-style band performing a wide variety of music from jazz to popular classics.
Rehearsals are at Police Headquarters (London Road, Devizes) making it easy to get to for people in the surrounding areas of Melksham, every Tuesday evening from 7.45pm to 9.45pm.
