THE children of Melksham got a taste of life as a firefighter late last month when the local station opened its doors to the community.
As part of the Family Learning Festival during half term, hundreds of visitors to the station were able to find out more about life as a firefighter, look around the fire station and learn more about the equipment on the fire engine.
Also at the open day were Wiltshire Scrapstore, who hosted a family workshop, giving participants the opportunity to explore, create and get messy.
