SEMINGTON Parish Council is searching for the relatives of two military personnel who are buried in a local churchyard, to discuss adding their names to the Semington War Memorial.
With the help of local and military historian, Ray Heard, the council wants to hear from the families of Frank Baden Farmer (father John, mother Jane, siblings Florence, Jesse and Tom) and William Henry John Hancock (father Henry, mother Alice and brother Richard).
Both men are buried in Commonwealth war graves in the churchyard of St George’s Church in the village.
Ray said, “We think that the war memorial was built in early 1920, before these two men died. As their names are not on the memorial, we want to talk to their families about adding them, as we feel it is good courtesy to do this before we proceed. We also need to find out who owns the war memorial too.”
