On Saturday, June 30th, Ruan Sinclair of Bowerhill, Melksham, married Dr Andrew Richardson of Crawshaw Booth, Lancashire, on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean.
Ruan is Assistant Head of Two Boats school on the island and Andy is the lead marine scientist, working in conservation. They met on the island and have been living there for 4 years.
The marriage was conducted by the Administrator of Ascension Island, Her Honour Justine Allan, on Long Beach in the island’s capital, Georgetown. It was a small and moving ceremony attended by close friends. An evening reception was held at the Obsidian Hotel Restaurant for all the rest of their friends and colleagues.
Their families were unable to be with them due to problems with the island’s runway, but champagne celebrations were held in the UK and everyone here is looking forward to the vow renewal ceremony and party that is to be held when they return to England for the summer holidays.
Both families wish them a long and very happy future together, wherever their journey takes them.
