CURRENT Premier League champions, Manchester City FC, will be bringing their trophy tour to Melksham this week!
This is your chance to view and have your photo taken with the Premier League Trophy, Carabao Cup and the FA Community Shield. The trophy tour will be visiting Melksham Town Football Club this Friday, 18th January, and will be on display in the club’s Sky Bar from 7.30pm until 10.30pm.
The event has been organised by the Manchester City Supporters Club’s Bath and Wilts branch. From the supporters club, Mark Stansby said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to come and see these trophies up close and to take photographs or selfies. All are welcome to attend, no matter which club you might support.
“Manchester City FC make no charge to their supporter branches for these events. But, each branch is asked to raise money for Manchester City FC’s official charity, City in the Community (CITC). CITC runs a series of award-winning programmes focussing on health, education and inclusion within the Greater Manchester area, spanning over 13,000 project hours each year.
“The branch will ask for donations for those wishing to view the trophies and take photographs. The branch is very grateful for the support given by Melksham Town Football Club in organising this event. Their bar will be open throughout the event.
“The branch was formed in Melksham in 2001 with the first meeting held at the old Conigre ground, with around a dozen loyal supporters in attendance. Whilst some members have come and gone over the years, the branch has steadily grown and currently has around 60 members. Matches are attended both home and away, including European games. The branch meets once a month at alternate venues in Melksham and Bath. New members are always welcome.”
Chair of Melksham Town Football Club, Darren Perrin said, “We are delighted and honoured to have the Premier League Trophy, Carabao Cup and the FA Community Shield in all their glory on display at the club in the Sky Bar.
“It’s a great opportunity for the whole community – especially the youth players – to come and have their photo taken with these prestigious trophies.
“I remember when the Bath and Wilts supporters branch had their first meeting at the Conigre in 2001 when my dad, Mick, was chairman. To welcome them back to the club for this visit is fantastic. We are only too pleased to help put these items on display for everyone to enjoy.”
