NEARLY 40 local community groups, projects and events have been awarded a grant from Melksham Town Council, which totals £55,852.
The grants were awarded at last week’s Melksham Community Expo where representatives from those receiving the grants were handed cheques by the mayor, cllr Jon Hubbard.
Some of the groups who received larger grants were Young Melksham (£10,000), Melksham Christmas Lights (£7,000), Wiltshire Citizens Advice (£5,000), Melksham Tourist Information Centre (£4,000), Melksham Food & River Festival (£3,000), Party in the Park (£3,000), and Melksham Carnival (£2,500).
Others that received grants included Happy Circle Daycare, Bloom in Melksham, Wiltshire Mind, Melksham Seniors, Melksham ATC, and many more.
At the event, held at the Assembly Hall, attendees and the public were given the opportunity to browse stalls hosted by local groups and organisations to find out more about the work they do in the community.
At the event, Melksham mayor, cllr Hubbard said, “Thank you for sharing with us what it is that you do and how you contribute to the community. You all do so much amazing work to support our town. It has been a real honour to hand out the grant cheques this evening from the town council.”
