SEEND primary School has had another successful and interesting year.
We were delighted with our positive SIAMs report in April 2019 which graded the school Good with excellent impact for collective worship, stating “Seend’s Christian vision has been deeply influential in establishing a nurturing, caring, inclusive Christian community with a strong family ethos”.
The children have enjoyed taking part in a range of sporting tournaments / competitions including the swimming gala, cross country, tag rugby, football and netball, every time representing the school brilliantly with their fair play and team support. For example in the cross country, those children who finished early in the race, ran back and accompanied the younger and slower runners, cheering them on along the way.
Our SATs results, once again showed the children at least meeting national expectations in all areas, and often exceeding them, with particularly strong results in reading.
The children have worked hard to live out the school value of generosity and have donated to various charities including the Melksham Foodbank, Children in Need, Just One Tree and have rounded the year off with a reverse advent calendar, collecting donations for the homeless.
During the summer holidays, some internal changes took place with a new servery being created and a classroom being moved, freeing up much-needed space in the hall.
The children are always keen to perform and in the summer, the older children delivered two amazing performances of “Rock Bottom” a comedy musical set in Stone Age times. The last day of the summer term gave the children the chance to perform in a new way with a Bollywood-themed day. The infant nativity was called “It’s a party” and featured the traditional characters that you would expect to see and was told through a mixture of song and narration. Not only do the children like to perform, but they enjoy watching a performance and enjoyed the end of term fun of a travelling theatre pantomime of Scrooge.
Our fundraising committee has raised lots of money for the school and the school has enjoyed spending it on new reading books, children-friendly keyboards, the timber trail extension, and various resources across all the classes, as well as paying for the end of term pantomime.
