NEW cinematic equipment is to be purchased by Melksham Town Council to improve the experience for film-lovers at the Assembly Hall.
Councillors have agreed to spend over £2,500 on a piece of audio control equipment that will allow films to be shown using the hall’s dedicated cinema Dolby sound system.
Currently, sound for films has been delivered via the hall’s PA system, which “lacks a little quality”.
A report to council highlighted that film screenings are one form of entertainment that the Assembly Hall can easily deliver within social distancing guidelines as “spreading the seats out would not be a problem.”
It was also highlighted that the equipment will benefit local groups, with cllr Adrienne Westbrook pointing out that Melksham Seniors are “desperate” to restart their film club.
