Women of Holt who have been handcrafting poppies to form a Remembrance Day Cascade, have now made over 6,000 poppies that will adorn St Katharine’s Church Bell Tower from 1st to 18th November.
174 local women have helped to make the poppies. The first part of the cascade is now finished and the next three sections are being worked on by 50 volunteers sewing them onto pheasant mesh.
“We are hoping for visitors to come and admire the cascade,” explained a spokesperson for the group, Helen Gray. “There will also be poppies around the village primarily on the village green where the remembrance service takes place. And there will be poppy broaches and clips for bags or dog harnesses, hair slides and key rings. All donations are for the Royal British Legion.”
