MELKSHAM competitors took part in a thrilling weekend of racing at Donington Park last week.
Paul Korkus reports, “The weekend of the 11th-12th August saw the sixth round of the NG Road Race championships held at Donington Park. Melksham’s Russell Hynes competed at this round on his 675cc Triumph and notched up three third places from three starts in the Metzeler DTR Streetstock 700cc races.
“Broughton Gifford’s Travis Vince competed in the Dymag 250 GP ACU National and NG Cup events on his TZ 250cc Yamaha. Despite machine problems during qualifying, which saw him miss the whole session, he went from the back of the grid to 16th place overall and third in the NG Cup class.
“He also started his second race from the back of the grid and finished in 12th place overall and another third place in the NG Cup class. During his final race he slid off his machine, but is still currently in third place in the NG Cup Championship with two rounds to go.
“Both riders said at Donington Park that they were looking forward to the next round at their local circuit at Castle Combe.”
