IMPROVEMENTS are to be made to a “narrow” footpath on the A365 that is regularly used by school children.
The footpath on Bath Road, between Dunch Lane and Corsham Road in Shaw, is regularly used by pupils of Shaw Primary School – and has been described as difficult for families to safely navigate because of its width.
Money contributed by the George Ward Gardens development is being held by Wiltshire Council for the upgrade of the footpath.
The money will also be used to provide traffic management measures relating to the access from Dunch Lane to the A350 (Beanacre Road); to regulate parking on Dunch Lane; and to provide pedestrian and cycle signing to the town centre and other key locations.
Wiltshire Council has said that a period between two to three years should be allowed to undertake further consultation, develop proposals, implement traffic regulation orders (as necessary) and to undertake construction work.
