RESPECTS were paid to former local councillor Maureen Weston this month.
The community, including Melksham’s mayor, cllr Pat Aves, and deputy mayor, cllr Geoff Mitcham, gathered in the Market Place to observe the funeral cortege travelling through the town centre.
Members of St John Ambulance were also in attendance to pay their respects with flags lowered and a salute – Maureen was well known in the town for her work as a St John Ambulance superintendent.
She was the chairwoman of the Melksham Urban District Council from 1976 to 1978 and also served as a West Wilts District Councillor. She died on 15th March at the age of 82.
