THE ‘TransWilts Christmas Train Trip Experience’ treated a group of Swindon residents to a day out in Melksham.
TransWilts Community Rail Officer, Sophie Martin, reports, “Despite more Covid complications scuppering our usual Santa Train plans, we decided to team up with Swindon Station Adoption Group to bring some families to Melksham to visit the Hub Cafe and the Christmas Fayre. A nice day out for the community and a chance to help local tourism.
“The Swindon residents arrived in Melksham where they were welcomed off the train by Santa himself. Santa gave out some gifts donated by us at TransWilts and the Lions group. Lunch was on us, so we filled up before heading into town for a wander around the Christmas Fayre.
“We all met back at the station for some hot drinks before the families departed on the 16:53 train home to Swindon. Many thanks to Blooming Smiles/Swindon Station Adoption Group, the Melksham Lions and Community Rail Network for their contributions. A lovely day was had by all.”
