New manager at Melksham Town

A new manager has been appointed at Melksham Town and he’s making plans to help the team ‘climb the league.’

Mark Collier, previously a manager at Swindon Supermarine for seven years and Chippenham Town for six years said, “It’s great to be with a club that’s going places. It has great facilities, a great fan-base, the club is in a good place off the pitch too!

“My plans for the team now are to push towards us being in the top six or seven in the division. Once we’re settled, we can concentrate on the team climbing the league. My focus is for us to ultimately win at the game of football.”

Club chairman Darren Perrin said, “It’s great to be able to appoint Mark as first team and club manager. It’s great to have a manager of the team that can take us forward as a club and in time, hopefully, up a league!

“Mark is an experienced and successful manager who previously led Chippenham Town to their highest position in the football pyramid following promotion to the National League South, after winning the Southern Premier League.

“Mark has also managed locally in Wiltshire with Swindon Supermarine famously leading them to the FA Cup First Round where they played Football League side Colchester United.

“We are also excited to announce that Luke Ballinger will be the assistant manager and Dave Thompson has been appointed as player coach.

“Melksham Town legend Luke Ballinger re-joined the club from Corsham a couple of months into last season and has been in fine form as Town’s top scorer in all competitions so far this season.

“Thommo is a local lad who has played nearly 400 games for his home town club, whilst also plying his trade with Frome Town and Paulton Rovers amongst others. He will look to bring his experience and leadership in his new role.”
