STAFF and residents at Blenheim House, a luxury all-inclusive care home in Melksham, hosted a Caribbean themed party on 28th June that involved live music, a barbecue and tropical cocktails.
The home, which is part of the Berkley Care Group, held the festivities in the late afternoon alongside residents’ family, friends and community members.
Staff, residents and guests came together to enjoy a steel band’s musical entertainments. The band, Shake My Party, performed a wide variety of traditional reggae music for everyone to sing and dance along to.
A large marque was set up in the garden for guests to sit and watch the day’s entertainment. Guests were also welcome to join the steel band for a dance. The outdoor space was decorated with colourful bunting and balloons to add to the afternoon’s vibrant celebrations.
The home’s in-house chefs prepared a selection of Caribbean dishes for the residents and guests to enjoy. Traditional jerk chicken, pork and pineapple brochettes and lamb sausages were grilled on the barbecue and served alongside slaw, rice and sweet potato fries; followed by baked bananas with rum cream for dessert.
Tropical summer cocktails like pina coladas and daiquiris, were also served to set the scene of a Caribbean celebration.
Blenheim House’s general manager, Clare Hodges, said, “This was our first time hosting a Caribbean themed party at Blenheim House and we are happy to say it was a great success.
“The music performed by Shake My Party created a glorious atmosphere in our home’s garden and brought a huge smile to all our residents’ and guests’ faces. It was the perfect event to kick start the long warm summer evenings.
“The residents, guests and community members were able to be outside and socialising whilst enjoying the delicious food prepared by our team. Many got involved singing and dancing with the band, and it felt like our wider community was brought closer together. The Caribbean party is testament to our commitment of creating an enjoyable environment for our residents.”
