A free live music programme will return to Melksham next year after attracting large crowds to the town centre throughout its 2026 season.
Friday Light Live, held in the Market Place on the final Friday of each month, has now ended for the winter after its final event formed part of the Sham Jam Festival in September.
This year’s programme featured performances from Frome Street Bandits, David Toya, Wade Merritt and Joe Robinson, with each event bringing live music and entertainment to the Market Place.
The season ended with a special Sham Jam Festival performance by Courting Ghosts Acoustic, which attracted a capacity crowd.
Events ran from 6pm to 7pm and were designed to encourage people to continue their evenings in the town’s pubs, restaurants and other venues.
Melksham Mayor Saffi Rabey said, “Friday Light Live has been a fantastic success, bringing people into the town centre each month to enjoy great live music and a wonderful atmosphere. It’s been brilliant to see residents and visitors coming together, supporting local businesses and helping create a vibrant, welcoming town centre.
“Thank you to everyone involved, from the performers and organisers to the businesses and all who came along. It’s been wonderful to see our community come together and make these evenings such a success.”
Melksham Town Council’s Community Committee agreed at its meeting on 14th September that Friday Light Live should return next year.
