Fabulous February at the Assembly Hall

THERE is a busy month ahead at Melksham Assembly Hall with live music, the popular quiz night, a record fair and the showing of an award-winning film documentary.

We Three Kings of Rock ‘n’ Roll – Friday 2nd February 7.30pm
Three artists celebrate the music of three Icons of Rock ‘n’ Roll – Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley.Roy Orbison, played by Darren Page will perform all the hits from In Dreams to I Drove all Night.
Marc Robinson and his four-piece band The Counterfeit Crickets pay attention to every detail with their tribute to Buddy Holly, with authentic attire, horned rimmed glasses and the famous Fender Stratocaster. Buddy: The Musical star Marc Robinson, who has appeared on Stars in their Eyes, creates nostalgic memories with songs that include Heartbeat, It Doesn’t Matter Anymore, Peggy Sue and True Love Ways!
And from the BBC Elvis Show and other hit shows in Great Britain and Europe, Steve Halliday, with authentic costume changes, will transport you back to the days when Rock ‘n’ Roll was King!

Eating Our Way to Extinction, Thursday 8th Feb. 7.30pm
Kate Winslet narrates this impactful, multi-award winning 2021 documentary, which lifts the lid on the food industry and explores how we can change ourselves and the world around us through our dietary choices.

The Kast Off Kinks – Saturday 10th February, 7.30pm
The Kast off Kinks include former members of the legendary band The Kinks. “Expect all the hits, including You Really Got Me, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Sunny Afternoon, Lola, Days, Waterloo Sunset, Come Dancing and many more for a great night out!” say the organisers.
“This great line-up features Mick Avory, founding member of The Kinks and the original drummer on all the classic hits from 1964 to 1984; Mark Haley, keyboards/vocals, Kinks 1989 to 1993, also played with The Rubettes; and Mike Steed, bass/vocals, playing history with Love Affair, Chip Hawkes, Marmalade, The Rubettes and Mike Pender.
“These high-class professionals are then fronted by the equally talented and charismatic Dave Clarke (guitar/main vocals). Dave made three albums with the Noel Redding band, two solo albums as Dave Carlsen and the Dream Machine, one with Jimmy McCulloch and several others including Mick Avory, Dave Rowberry, Tim Rose and Keith Moon. Dave has been a member of the Kast Off Kinks since it was formed almost 30 years ago.”

Majesty – Saturday 17th February, 7.30pm
The UK’s premier Queen tribute act is returning to Melksham to perform an ‘electrifying’ and ‘energetic’ show.
“Majesty is fronted by actor and musician Rob Lea, who is renowned for his incredible showmanship and powerful vocal skills,” say the organisers. “Rob graduated drama school with a Master’s Degree in Professional Acting and it’s clear through his meticulous eye for detail that he brings Freddie to life in a way no other tribute artist has done before.”

Melksham Record Fair – Sunday 25th Feb. 10am
It’s that time again, record collectors! Thousands of classic and not-so-classic albums/singles on glorious vinyl plus CDs, tapes etc. Free entry, and the bar is open! To book a stall, email sara.land@ melksham-tc.gov.uk
