MELKSHAM Lions Club has given funds to local groups and organisations following their successful Christmas collections.
The club raised £4,800 in their Santa Float, which travelled around Melksham throughout the festive period. The president of the club, Philip Gaskell, said the total is the ‘best’ collected for a number of years.
Out of the funds raised, the Lions given donations to Melksham Food Bank, Brain Tumour Research, Wiltshire Mind, Melksham Christmas Lights Group, Melksham Larder, Melksham Ladies’ FC, The Gateway Club, Melksham 60+ Club, and have purchased medical equipment for a local family.
At the Lions Club meeting on Monday 12th February, representatives from some of the groups were present to receive cheques and thank the Lions.
