Residents of Sarum Avenue have raised over £15,000 for the Bath and Wiltshire Air Ambulance at their fundraiser, which saw the entire street illuminated with Christmas lights throughout December.
Residents decorated the street and welcomed people from Melksham and surrounding areas to view the lights and take part in the festivities. This year, there was an opportunity to participate in a raffle, and once again, children could meet Father Christmas and his elves.
“We had a very busy December with an excess of 15,000 people coming to visit the street throughout the month,” explained one resident, Brenton Jones.
“We would like to thank each and every one who came to see the displays and also the local neighbours for their understanding with traffic and footfall volumes.”
Sarum Avenue residents first launched the Christmas display in 2023, raising around £6,000 for Bath and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“Bigger and better plans are already in talks for this year’s display,” says Brenton.
The residents are due to visit the Bath and Wiltshire Air Ambulance base in Semington soon.
