This year’s Melksham Open Gardens event has raised £1,580 for The Children’s Society, as gardens across the town opened to visitors.
Residents enjoyed wandering around 21 gardens that were open to the public on Sunday 20th July.
Many then returned to Place Road for a cream tea and homemade cakes in the sunshine.
The annual event raises funds for The Children’s Society, which provides support to young people threatened by abuse, neglect and exploitation.
“This event does not just happen, it involves a lot of hard work by a lot of dedicated gardeners, bakers, more bakers, and a score of helpers,” said organiser Lesley Windebank. “We would like to say a huge thank you to you all.
“We would also like to thank local artist David Walker, who last year donated to The Children’s Society in Melksham a large piece of community artwork produced by visitors to his open garden.
“This was to be raffled with free tickets, and was very happily taken home by a lady called Joy, who plans to hang it in her hall.
“Thank you again to anyone and everyone who helped us that day.”
