Budding female footballers from a Melksham school had an inspirational visit to the home of England’s national teams at St George’s Park recently.
Girls in Year 7 and 8 at Melksham Oak Community School were given a tour of the facilities at St George’s Park in Staffordshire and took part in a coach-led session.

They also had a tour of the boot room where England’s best players meet and prepare for sessions, as well as seeing some of the major trophies won by the Lionesses over the previous years.
Associate Headteacher Abbie Clark said, “They had an insightful view into careers in sport, from admin to media, ground staff, coaching and officiating, as well as others. The girls excelled all day, asking great questions, engaging fully with the activities and being great representatives of the school. This was definitely a trip that they won’t forget and hopefully a huge inspiration for many into opportunities in sport and what things can look like at the highest level of sport in the country.”

Mr Banks said, “I am very grateful to have been able to provide this opportunity and allow our students to experience something truly memorable that has hopefully educated, inspired and motivated these girls to truly try and succeed in their future goals.”
One student said, “Knowing I was in the same room as idols was very inspiring.”
Another said, “The trophies were really cool; it’s inspiring to see what you can achieve.”
