A Melksham primary school was filled with slippers, dressing gowns and a sense of community as pupils and staff took part in a special pyjamas day to raise money for an Alzheimer’s charity.
Norah, a pupil at Aloeric Primary School, asked the headteacher if they could host a pyjama day for Alzheimer’s Society after her grandmother died from the disease last year.
Determined to make a difference, Norah planned the fundraising day so children could come to school dressed in their pyjamas in exchange for a small donation.

With help from her brother, Norah also contacted local businesses to ask if they would donate prizes for a raffle. The generous response included donations from Hairtek, Michelle Helena Beauty, Halfords, Lydiard Developments Ltd, Nook Cafe and Bistro and Baked by Sammie.
The raffle proved popular with families and staff, helping to boost funds raised on the day.
In total, the school raised almost £750 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Headteacher Tom Mullins said it was a “great, cosy and slightly sleepy day” and praised Norah for her kindness, determination and inspiring effort to support other families affected by Alzheimer’s. a
