Melksham driver Owen Hillman was back in action in the latest rounds of this year’s Power Maxed Mini Challenge championship, writes Tim Crisp.
He had two races across the weekend of 6th / 7th June in the North West at the Oulton Park 2.26 mile Island Circuit.
Sitting in 13th position after the previous Snetterton rounds where Owen scored points in two of the three races, this was the fourth round of this year’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and TOCA Support Series.

In his Pro Alloys Racing Mini F56 JCW 3 door hatch, in race one on Saturday, starting from 16th place on the grid, Owen dropped a few places in the early laps and was then in a race-long battle with Alex Brandham where the pair swapped positions during the 20 mins race. At the end Owen was placed in 18th position after being given a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits.
Race two on Sunday saw Owen cross the line in 13th place but having collected a 10-second time penalty for exceeding track limits and a 30-second time penalty in lieu of drive through, he was placed in 21st position in the amended race results.
The championship how has a break before returning at the Knockhill Circuit in Scotland on 8/9th August where Owen will start from 15th place in the title race with 228 points.
