A Melksham community group that has supported residents for more than 40 years could face closure unless more volunteers come forward.
The Rainbow Day Centre has been running since 1983 and currently welcomes around 18 to 20 members to its weekly sessions at the Riverside Centre. The group supports residents with a wide range of needs and abilities, who are mostly elderly.
Members meet every Monday from 10am to 2pm for hot drinks, lunch, games and activities.
The centre previously had a team of four or five regular volunteers, but changes in circumstances mean it is now struggling to find enough people to keep the sessions running.
Volunteers are needed to serve drinks and meals, help members with mobility problems and run bingo when required.
Organiser Liz Sandell said, “We are determined to carry on running as long as possible but may have to close after Christmas if things don’t improve. If anyone is free to help, even occasionally, I would be very grateful.”
The Rainbow Day Centre is continuing to meet every Monday and people interested in volunteering are welcome to get in touch with Liz on 07563 301496 or at liz.sandell01@outlook.com.
