A successful season at Spencer Melksham Bowls Club has been rounded off with a strong showing in the club’s annual finals.
Richard George won all four of the main singles trophies, taking the Handicap, 100 Up, 2 Wood Cup and Club Championship titles over the weekend of 19th and 20th September.
He also beat his father, Alan George, on his way to winning the 100 Up title, following Alan’s success at the National Bowls Final earlier this year.
Richard teamed up with Alan and Kevin Mullett during the weekend to retain the Wilson Cup, a county-wide triples competition.
In the ladies’ competition, Claire Edwards was crowned Club Champion and also won the 2 Wood Singles.
Richard and Claire will represent Spencer in the 2027 Champions of Champions competition, where they will compete against bowlers from across the county.
The club also enjoyed success in league competition, with the Tigers Triples team, led by Shaun Eagles, winning its league and gaining promotion for the 2027 season.
Away from the green, the club held a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September, raising just over £300 through donations, cakes and raffle prizes.
“After such a good season, planning is well under way for 2027, starting with the green renovations to ensure we can get off to a fantastic start in April 2027,” said club member, Anne Hutchinson
