MELKSHAM Oak School had a special visitor last month, when they took part in the nationwide fundraiser ‘Ted’s Big Bake Off’ to raise money for the RUH.
Laura Pearce, for The Forever Friends Appeal, said on the week-long fundraiser, “We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed at the level of support we’ve received this year for our brand new fundraising week for the RUH: Ted’s Big Bake Off.
“All across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire, hundreds of businesses, schools, individuals and community organisations held bake sales, bake offs and coffee mornings to help raise funds the Royal United Hospital.
“The fundraising week was closed on Friday 9th October with a special RUH Big Bake Sale – the biggest cake sale the RUH has ever seen, which saw hundreds of cakes donated to be sold in the hospital’s main atrium.
“The bake sale was officially opened by celebrity baker Tom Herbert, who is one half of television’s ‘The Fabulous Baker Brothers’ and raised over £1,000 for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign – we are delighted! We would like to thank everyone for taking part in this year’s event and have loved seeing everyone’s baking creations. We hope you’ll dust off your aprons and get involved next year!”
