After the very successful one-man exhibition by Ken Steadman in June, it’s all change at the Art House Cafe Gallery.
The July exhibition contains the work of no less than six local artists: three whose work has been seen before and three new artists to the Gallery.
Ken Horroll spent almost all his working life in print, but has always painted in his spare time, coming to prefer acrylics to water colour and oils. The subjects of his paintings range from rural and urban landscapes, to architecture, portraits, animals and still life. He lives in Melksham, and at the age of 85, is still an active member of Combe Down Art Group.
On retirement, Ann Lecorre did a part-time leisure art course at Trowbridge College, studying the styles and techniques of other artists, past and present. She lives in Trowbridge, where the surrounding Wiltshire countryside is the inspiration for many of her paintings. Using her own photos to work from, a picture will unfold in her mind, but the finished work could be totally different from her initial vision.
Christine Rowland joined her first amateur art class when she lived in Kent about twenty-five years ago. She has continued to paint since then, using various media, but now prefers to work with oils. All but one of her exhibited paintings are in that medium.
The other local artists this month are Carol Hall, David Nutt and John Vinicombe. Come along and enjoy the varied works on show.
