LOCAL woman, Sandra Sharratt will be running this year’s London Marathon in aid of Smile Train.
1 in 700 children around the world are born with a cleft lip or palate, they may live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate.
Smile Train provides training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.
Sandra is hoping to raise £3,000, which will change the lives of 20 children. So far, Sandra has held a charity Zumba class with Maria Gonzalez, a pub quiz at The White Hart in Atworth and provided refreshments at a local half marathon.
However, Sandra’s main fundraiser is a ‘Bit Of a Do’ a night of dancing to live music by Covergirl, with a buffet supper on 9th March at Spencer’s Sports and Social Club. Tickets at £15 each are available from Sandra Sharratt 07732 644616, or sans65@hot mail.co.uk.
