There has been a lot going on in December for the Atworth WI.
On 2nd of December, three members had a most enjoyable day doing Indian block printing and Kantha stitching at WI House in Devizes. As usual it was good to meet members of other WIs and learn a new craft.
Our WI was invited to go to the carol service organised by Neston WI at St. Aldelms Church in Corsham. 10 members went and enjoyed a lovely carol service and tea and cake afterwards.
The day after two members went to the Federation Christmas Concert held at St. Francis Church in Salisbury.
On December 18th we had a seasonal celebration with entertainment in the Village Hall where we were able to use the facilities in the newly-refurbished kitchen. A small group entertained us with a hilarious performance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, followed by a rendition of ‘While shepherds watched their flocks by night,’ to the tune of On Ilkley Moor Bar t’hat by the committee. A good time was had by all as they say.
We look forward to our next meeting on Jan.15th at 7.30pm in the Village Hall, when Dr. Francis Burroughes visits us again . His talk this time is “Can you play Jerusalem?” Visitors are welcome, £3.
