THE Kennet Accordion Orchestra will perform at Melksham United Church on Saturday 21st May at 7.30pm, in a concert entitled ‘Classics to Queen’.
Under the baton of musical director, Nigel Pasby, the orchestra has a varied repertoire combining a clever selection of classical pieces with modern music, culminating in their Queen medley (when you can almost hear Freddie Mercury singing!)
Nigel took over the baton as musical director in 2011, having been a founder member of the Kennet Accordion Orchestra since 1984. Now in its ‘thirties’, the orchestra which is based within the valley of the River Kennet, is supported by an enthusiastic group of players from the surrounding towns of Marlborough, Hungerford, Newbury and Swindon.
They share a common passion to show the versatility of the accordion, continually building on their high reputation and extending their musical repertoire.
Tickets cost £10 (concessions £7.50) to include refreshments and are available from Melksham Tourist Information Centre and on the door.
