Revised plans to build 295 homes on land north of the A3102 at New Road Farm, near Sandridge Common, have been submitted.
The original application by Bloor Homes was submitted last year and received a number of comments during the consultation process. The developer now has amended its proposals, which are now open to further public comment until Thursday 25th July.
The plans include housing, public open space, formal play areas, allotments and land safeguarded for a nursery.
The initial plans were discussed by Melksham Without Parish Council earlier this year where councillors had questions around a number of aspects including access, the green space and play areas.
At the meeting in January, Chair of the parish council’s planning committee, Cllr Richard Wood, said, “This development is one of the sites earmarked for development anyway, so the parish council cannot object to it, but we can make sure it will be as good as it can be.”
Key changes in the new plans include a redesigned roundabout at Eastern Way/A3102 to form the main access to the site, with new pedestrian and cycle links. The layout and housing types have been revised in response to urban design feedback, and homes along the A3102 have been reoriented to reduce garden exposure to road noise. Landscaping and tree locations have also been updated.
