Local councillor Jon Hubbard has slammed plans to delay the resurfacing of Spa Road in Melksham again, following an announcement by Wiltshire Council.
The delay, announced this week, is being blamed on planned works in August next year by Wales and West who intend to replace a gas main.
Cllr Jon Hubbard said, “Melksham residents have been waiting years for the essential repairs on this road to be completed. We have seen it delayed and postponed time after time and frankly enough is enough.
“I quite understand that it is necessary to try and minimise disruption when undertaking road repairs, but we have seen these works cancelled several times and the road is in a shocking condition.
“I regularly cycle into town and see first hand just how much the road surface has degenerated and experience how dangerous it is as car drivers have to weave in and out of the potholes.
“The Conservative administration in Trowbridge keep telling us about the record investments they are making in our roads – it’s time we saw some of the impact of this!”
