TOTAL Carpets is appealing for witnesses after vandals caused an estimated £1,000 worth of damage to property outside the shop.
Large signage for the shop in the Market Place has been forcefully removed from the ground and damaged. It is believed that the event took place some time after 1.30am on Sunday 1st July.
Manager of Total Carpets, Alison Clark said, “It’s gutting. I have spent a lot of time and money getting the front of the shop ready for South West in Bloom – planting flower boxes, tidying the place up – and someone comes along and does this. It’s really disappointing.”
Director, Steve White added, “It’s pointless, annoying damage. Everyone does their bit for the town and mindless vandals do this. I feel angry for Alison as she has spent all that time making the shop front look nice. Whoever did this is lucky they weren’t killed, as the sign is wired up to the mains!”
Anyone with information should call the police on 101.
