The main topic at Atworth WI’s May meeting was the resolution to be put forward to the national WI’s AGM at Cardiff on June 5th.
The resolution to be presented at the meeting is that mental health matters as much as physical health and that we should be willing to talk about mental health issues as much as physical issues. One of the ways that the WI could help to reduce the stigma around mental health might be to encourage open discussion in the local community.
After much discussion in groups, we then voted on how we would like our delegate to vote at the AGM. The vote was unanimous in favour of the resolution.
We had a sales table during the evening and rounded off the evening with a geographical quiz in groups of three.
The winner of the competition for an ‘animal ornament’ was Dianne Briggs.
We continue to do our monthly litterpick and this month we had a record number of ‘pickers’.
Several members have been on visits organised by the Federation, one of which was a new speakers day at Broughton Gifford
Our next meeting is on Monday 18th June at 7.30pm in the Village Hall when the speaker is Debbie Clark talking about Jesse May Trust.
Visitors welcome £3.
