Atworth WI held their April meeting a week earlier than usual because of the Bank Holiday.
The club says, “We reported on our group Litter Pick for March. Three members had been to a nuno felt workshop led by Karen Skeet which was held at Coate near Devizes and organised by the Federation workshop committee. It was a fascinating technique where pieces of fine wool are felted on to a silk scarf.
“Bulb catalogues were available and orders had to be in by next month.
“We had a craft activity this month at the end of the business meeting. Pat Ruffell our Secretary who is very talented in smocking and embroidery particularly, showed us how to make a decorated Easter egg with a smocking cover. She called it “ Egg-stravaganza.” Pat was extremely patient and encouraging and a few people picked up the stitching quickly, while many of us were rather slower. It was an enjoyable challenge which could be finished at home.
“The competition this month for the most interesting thimble was won by Jean Kain.
“The next meeting will be on May 15th when we will be discussing the resolutions to be put before the NFWI AGM in June.”
