Local MP Michelle Donelan held an important meeting with Beanacre Community Speed Watch (CSW) and representatives of Melksham Without Parish Council last week on the issue of speeding and traffic volumes impacting the village.
The MP heard how Wiltshire Police have joined the CSW for a joint operation recently – further increasing their effectiveness and that they will be working with other local groups to maximise the value of the resources available to them and protect communities across Melksham and the surrounding villages.
Beanacre CSW have become a vital local community group, helping to not only slow drivers down, but also to deter dangerous driving by stationing themselves around Beanacre and supporting local residents who have been impacted by the traffic problems. Michelle Donelan says she is determined to ensure that the CSW’s recommendations are heard by Wiltshire Council and that they have the resources they need to continue their work.
The MP said, “Beanacre CSW do a fantastic job at making our roads safer and are a shining example of the positive impact that local community groups can have. I was very alarmed to hear some of the stories and experiences of volunteers and I will be working closely with Wiltshire Council in the coming months to ensure their concerns are heard.”
