PLANS for this year’s two-day Melksham Comic Con are under way, with organisers calling for support from local businesses to make the event bigger and better than last year’s very successful event.
Organisers say that they have already booked as many acts as last year’s event, with months to go before Comic Con weekend on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of August.
Already on the billing is top names including some new faces to the event as well as some that have appeared before, but organiser Hayley Spencer, is keeping their identity secret.
“We have some big names,” said Hayley, who owns Komix at the Roundhouse on Church Street, “but we are just waiting for final confirmation before we go ahead and announce who will be appearing.”
This year’s Comic Con will once again take place in Melksham Assembly Hall. Following on from last year’s successful event, Hayley promises this one to be bigger and better not only because it will now be over two days but because of the names and panels that will be on show; but Melksham Comic Con needs the support of local people. “We need help with prizes, funding, promotions and printing for the event,” she said. “If there is anyone that can help make Melksham Comic Con bigger and better, then please do get in touch. There are still some exhibitor spaces left for Comic Con, but these are going fast.”
To help with fundraising, a quiz night is to take place at the Assembly Hall on 28th February. The quiz is open to anyone to enter, costing £20 to enter a team of four with cash prizes and a cash raffle on offer.
Players must be 14 or over and the quiz will have an added twist of an ‘all you can eat’ pudding buffet half-way through the event. Hayley said, “It will be a great night and we hope that everyone and anyone wants to join in. The free all you can eat buffet is a massive highlight as who doesn’t like pudding! Of course we welcome anyone that wishes to sponsor the buffet and in return you will be put as a supporter of Melksham Comic Con in our programme for the actual event.
