MELKSHAM Assembly Hall is set to show more  blockbuster films and live entertainment. 

Live entertainment includes on Friday 7th  November, at 7pm a screening of Macbeth from the Globe Theatre. Tickets £8.

The next cinema screenings are: Friday 14th November, 7.30pm, Pride (15). Saturday 15th November, 10.30am, Unbeatables (U) and Friday 21st November, 7.30pm, A Most Wanted Man (15).

Tickets at 10am are £3 for under 15s and £4 for adults. All tickets from 5pm are £6 each. There is a licensed bar, tea and coffees.

Synopsis:

Pride (15): In 1984 20 year old closet gay Joe hesitantly arrives in London from Bromley for his first Gay Pride march and is taken under the collective wing of a group of gay men and Lesbian Steph, who meet at flamboyant Jonathan and his Welsh partner Gethin’s Soho bookshop. Not only are gays being threatened by Thatcher but the miners are on strike in response to her pit closures and Northern Irish activist Mark Ashton believes gays and miners should show solidarity. When a bigot tries to sabotage the partnership with a tabloid smear Mark turns it back on her with a hugely successful benefit concert to which most of the villagers, now thoroughly in tune with their gay friends, turn up. The miners are defeated and return to work but at the Pride march the following year a vast contingent of miners show up to repay their comrades with their show of support.

Unbeatables (U): In the small village where Amadeo lives there is no one good enough to challenge his skills at Table Football. But, while Amadeo may be a genius as a table football player in real life he’s a loser. He’s in love with Lara, his childhood friend, but he’s so shy that he can’t bring himself to confess his love for her. So he just hangs out in his quaint, timeless village. When Amadeo beats the village bully Flash at Table Football. The scene is set for an epic rivalry. Consumed with anger Flash vows to get even and 10 years later he returns as an International Superstar, a Football Icon and Galatico determined to wreak his revenge.

 A Most Wanted Man (15): When a half-Chechen, half-Russian, brutally tortured immigrant turns up in Hamburg’s Islamic community, laying claim to his father’s ill gotten fortune, both German and US security agencies take a close interest: as the clock ticks down and the stakes rise, the race is on to establish this most wanted man’s true identity – oppressed victim or destruction-bent extremist? Based on John le Carré’s novel, a most wanted man is a contemporary, cerebral tale of intrigue, love, rivalry, and politics that prickles with tension right through to its last heart-stopping scene.
