THE South West in Bloom – Melksham team started work last week to transform the former Tavern pub ready in time for a visit from the annual competition’s judges
Volunteers are aiming to win gold for the town for the third year in a row. There were fears that the untidy Market Place pub, which has stood empty since it closed its doors in December last year, might hinder the town’s chances at scoring the treble win.
Chair of South West in Bloom, Kathy Iles said, “We are hoping to have work finished on the Tavern in plenty of time. Melksham artist, Jo Gruenegan, will be re-painting the boarded up windows to make it look like they are windows and will paint something floral themed with plenty of colour – it’s going to look great!”
The South West in Bloom judges are due to visit on Friday 5th July.
