To celebrate his 80th birthday a local man, John Phillips, was treated to a helicopter ride from Kemble to the Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare and back again.
During his journey, he took some aerial photos of Bowerhill from above. “We took our two grandsons as well and as they had never flown in a helicopter before, they both really enjoyed it. Simon the pilot said that he would fly us back via Melksham so we could get some photos of the area,” explained John.
“The photo (on the opposite page) shows the industrial site and housing estate, Bowerhill School and village hall, Melksham Oak Community School and the Eastern Bypass.”
