Once again, the people of Melksham have come up trumps!! So says Sue Henderson from Melksham FoodBank.
“Donations have been so generous, especially during the build up to Christmas. We have been bowled over by people’s generosity, from individuals placing an item in one of the supermarket trollies to companies making sizeable donations.
“We have also had people not wanting to buy each other Christmas presents, but choosing to donate the money to the Foodbank instead. The support has been incredible and we don’t want anyone to be excluded! So please everyone – accept our heartfelt thanks.
“Due to receiving donations from churches, the town council and the Rotary Club we were able to purchase tokens for clients to spend at a supermarket,” added Sue “These went into every box distributed in November and December, supporting over 400 people.
“Since we began, nine years ago, the role of the Foodbank has grown. People in need of help are no longer just those on benefits or out of work; many families are on low wages and struggle. We are all only four pay packets away from needing the help of a Foodbank.
“One of the difficulties is encouraging families or individuals who could use some help to ask for it!! If you, or anyone you know, would benefit from receiving a food parcel please do ask! You need to referred by an ‘agent’ who could be a social worker, housing agent, Dr, CAB, Church leader. Alternatively, all the local schools have links with us and can access a food parcel for you.
“All these agencies will treat your request confidentially.

“Thank you all for all your support over this past year and we look forward to working together in 2016. God bless…..”
