The Live at Shaw concert series at Christ Church, Shaw, continues this month when the Bratton Brass Band return by popular request.
After a sell-out in 2025, they will be playing a selection of Movie Classics on Saturday 26th September.
“The concert is not to be missed!” said one of the organisers Dianne Briggs. “Join us for an evening of Movie Classics presented by the 30-strong Bratton Brass Band. From The Magnificent Seven to Ghostbusters, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The band was formed in 1859 after musicians in the local church were replaced by an organ, making it one of the oldest brass bands in the country. Today, Bratton Community Brass Bands is an organisation of over 100 members who play at a large number of events every year in Wiltshire and further afield.
Their work with Brass Education, earnt them a Classic FM Award in 2025 which was eagerly collected at the Royal Albert Hall!
Their Musical Director is Lydia Grace-Hills, a Wiltshire born and bred brass musician.
“As usual refreshments and homemade cakes will be available during the interval,” added Dianne. “Although there is no charge for these, should you wish to make a donation, the proceeds will go to Wiltshire MIND, one of the charities the Parish is supporting this year”
Tickets cost £10 per person and are available from Spindles in Whitley or to avoid disappointment, you can reserve tickets by emailing aswparish@gmail.com.
