MELKSHAM Ukulele Social Club has organised a ‘Musical Tea Time’ fundraiser to honour 100 years of the Royal British Legion and the end of World War One.
The event will be held this Sunday, 25th November, from 2pm until 5pm at the Forest Community Centre in Bowman Court. On behalf of the Melksham Ukulele Social Club, member Chris Pickett says, “It is planned that on Sunday 25th November there will be a ‘Musical Tea Time’, which will be a fundraising opportunity for us all to show our support for the work of the Royal British Legion (RBL). The plan is to have a mixture of music, with well known songs, interspersed with poetry, cakes, sandwiches etc. To be held at the Forest Community Centre in Bowman Court. The lunch time bar will be open as usual.
“Melksham Ukulele Social Club (MUSC) is putting this forward as a way of bringing all people together for some ‘old fashion’ socialisation. During the war years it was very important to hold communities together. Today that is equally as important, as our lives are increasingly being separated by technology and distances from families. Coming together for a common purpose makes friends of people who live near us, people we see daily but may never speak to, it helps people who are in any way isolated, to have an opportunity to enjoy company.”
Tickets are available from the Melksham Tourist Information Centre. Adults £5, family ticket £15 (max 2 children) and £2 per additional child. For more information please contact: Chris: 07957 812648 or Tim: tim1603@live.com
