A personal challenge of cycling the equivalent journey of Broughton Gifford to Cornwall has been set by 12-year-old Freddie Francis in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Freddie, who lives in Broughton Gifford explained, “I was very sad when I heard the news that my Godmother had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time. I thought about it for a while and then decided to do a sponsored cycle ride.
“My family usually visit Padstow for our summer holiday, so I thought I would ride the equivalent 177-mile journey to Cornwall in daily stages for the month before we leave for Cornwall. I am riding on the roads around our village with family members. I have so far raised £515 for Macmillan Cancer Support thanks to the generosity of my family and friends.”
Freddie attends The Corsham School and is a member of the 1st Broughton Gifford and Holt Scout group.
Freddie’s mother, Claire said, “If anyone would like to sponsor Freddie for this very worthwhile cause he would be very pleased.”
