Melksham Speakers  say they are taking the bull by the horns and returning on Tuesday 8th September at the Rachel Fowler Centre, commencing at 7.30pm.

“The centre has been deep cleaned, there are hand sanitiser stations and the room is large and social distancing will not be a problem.  

“The reason for this decision is: We have to start sometime.  The right time may never come because we do not know how long it will be before this virus goes away, if ever.

“We can social distance without any problems, however, we need to talk in a normal voice and not shout out loud, laugh out loud or sing. We cannot hide forever. We can sit at home and look at four walls and do nothing and  what we will get is nothing.

“This virus is running and indeed ruining our lives and those of our families and friends.  We need to break away from its control.

“We need to be bold and embrace the future with a positive attitude.  We need to prepare ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead.

“Some may have to change their career, which is a daunting experience, they will need to get support and encouragement to move forward.

“Melksham Speakers can be of great help in preparing people for interviews and the presentations that they may have to make during those interviews.

“You will learn to speak to a prepared speech and also to think on one’s feet.  Learn to chair a meeting and introduce members who are participating on the agenda.

“Learn how to address people in a polite manner, organise a meeting, keep calm in a crisis and to observe and think what affect your actions will have on a given situation.  

“Joining Melksham Spea-kers is not an overnight success, it needs regular attendance and to participate in the assignments and targets that are given in the speakers guide which will be presented as soon as a person agrees to be a member.  

“Melksham Speakers meets at the Rachel Fowler Centre on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm.  We  usually finish at about 9.15pm.  For further information please contact Sheila on 07726 537452.”
