Burbank, also known as Luke Gittins and Ashley Smith, are a Wiltshire based duo formed in the spring of 2016 and whilst performing at one of their very first open mic nights, were spotted by Marland Music Management, who signed them without a moment’s hesitation.
Since that time they have gone on to perform well in excess of 300 gigs including many in Wiltshire, Bath, Reading, Norwich and London where they have performed at The Bedford, both for and alongside Cutting Crews’ Tony Moore, the BBC and the very exclusive Century Club in Soho attracting the attention of some very influential promoters.
In the summer of 2016 they headlined at SplashFest in London’s Battersea Park and in October 2016 they travelled to Spain for JaveaFest and recorded a version of ‘I See Fire’ for a fundraising video following the devastating forest fires that threatened to destroy the area.
Burbank have made numerous appearances on local radio and following their debut appearance on BBC Radio Wiltshire, attracted over 12,000 views when they performed their original song ‘The One’.
Their most recent video for BBC Wiltshire of another original song called ‘Blonde’ has now reached over 25,000 views.
In December 2016 they were chosen as the warm up act for Torvill and Dean in Chippenham and for X Factors’ Jay James in Swindon at the Christmas Lights switch on events,
They have collectively written over 150 original songs and are often described as the new ‘Lennon & McCartney’/ Simon & Garfunkel, their influences being Ed Sheeran & John Mayer amongst others.
2017 saw the release of their first EP ‘Overture’ on March 11th at The Cause and since then, Burbank have been much in demand performing at Festivals up and down the country which include Bristol, Brighton & Syon Park Foodie Fests & Marylebone Summer Fayre.
They were honoured to be invited to perform at ‘An Evening with James Bowen & A Street Cat Named Bob’ in aid of The Barons Court Project for the Homeless and played Mainstage at Swindon Pride, Foodies Fest, Alexandra Palace London & Oxford but most excitingly of all at Sundown Festival on Sunday 3rd September where they performed on the VIP Acoustic Stage before returning to Spain for JaveaFest 2017.
In December 2017 they performed once more on mainstage in Chippenham ahead of the Christmas Lights Switch on by Joe Pasquale and supported the very talented Ilona at Aloft in London.
Burbank continue to go from strength to strength, recording a promotional video at Factory Studios in Bristol followed by their first Sofar Sounds gig in Southampton.
2018 was a very busy year for the band culminating in the Christmas Lights switch on in Marylebone with The Who’s’ Roger Daltrey and 2019 is set to be even busier.
Burbank will be returning to Spain in May and supporting 80s’ icons T’pau in Newcastle later that month at the O2 Academy.
